Who are we?

Carrick's of Penrith is a family run business owned by David and Elizabeth Carrick. They have been in the retail sector for the last 24 years, where they have owned and managed a range of successful businesses in the Appleby and Penrith areas of Cumbria. Before opening Carrick's of Penrith, David and Elizabeth owned the shop on Lowther Holiday Park, Eamont Bridge, but due to ill health in 2008 they decided to downsize and where better to do this than the market town of Penrith.

Carrick's of Penrith is a small business and with this comes the personal touch that so many of us miss today. If you call into the shop you will find David, Elizabeth or their son Andrew and they are always on hand to help you find your favourite jam or something a little bit different, that more than likely will have you coming back for more. It must also be added here that if you want to find the nicest luxury chocolates from our large display, just ask Elizabeth because she will tell that the easiest way to recommend the chocolates is to try them all (there might be a few she hasn't tried but I am sure that number is decreasing as you read this). David and Elizabeth have a firm belief that you can find some of the best produce right on your doorstep so that's why they stock a large range of Cumbrian produce. These tend to be something a bit unique to Cumbria and means that customers are always coming back for more.
They decided to launch this website in 2009, after David and Elizabeth realised that they had a large customer base from all around the UK (and even some from further afield), and once they returned home they had nowhere to buy the excellent produce that they had found at Carrick's of Penrith. They believe that the customer should have the best experience and value therefore all the prices online are the same as you would find if you visit them in their shop. All you need to pay extra for is the postage and packing which is provided as cheaply as possible.

We are located in Penrith which is a county town of Cumbria in the North West of England. Penrith lies in the Eden Valley just under 3 miles outside the boundaries of the Lake District National Park.

Where are we?

Penrith was historically in Cumberland until in 1974, the county borough was abolished and combined with neighbouring Westmorland and parts of Lancashire and the West Riding of Yorkshire to form the new county of Cumbria.

Penrith can be accessed by car from a number of roads including the M6, A6, A66 and the A686. The West Coast Main Line also stops at Penrith North Lakes Railway Station which is located just up the road from us.
