Chutney is most commonly understood to be a delicious, savoury condiment made from fruit, vinegar, sugar and spices, to be served with meats, cheeses, on sandwiches or in salads.

The original chutneys (or chatni's) came from India - spreading to England during the colonial era and then onwards to England's other colonial outposts. During this journey the English and their colonies put their own spin on chutneys; creating a wide range of mouth-watering flavours.
