Since 1819 when John Farrer started a family business of Specialist tea and coffee merchant at 13 Stricklandgate, the tantalizing aroma of roasting coffee has become a feature of daily life in the market town of Kendal.
In today’s modern times the coffee is now roasted in our modern factory on the outskirts of Kendal. Farrers only sell pure origin Arabica beans. We buy our green beans from a broker in London who Richard Powell, the director of the company, has had an association with for more than 40 years.
All of our coffee is purchased from a known source and the London broker knows the families of the farmers personally. The brokers make regular trip to the farms to ensure that quality of the conditions for the workers is of a high standard. The farmers are also brought over to England to see the results of their hard work.
